The kiss deepen as the positions were quickly altered
so that Trowa was now on top. He used his left hand to support himself,
his right lightly rested on Mina's waist without moving. Mina pulled
him closer to her, not believing how good of a kisser he was. She
just hoped he thought the same about her. The next thing she knew,
his tongue had somehow managed to press by her lips and was now ransacking
her mouth. She had never French kiss before, and so tried to imitate
his moves. Just as she was getting the hang of it, he pulled away,
leaving her a little breathless. "What's wrong?" She wondered and tried to
pull him back atop her. "You were right. Distracted minds does make time
go by faster." Trowa answered as he stood and walked over to
the door. "You mean that was just a distraction for you?"
Trowa remained silent as he tried to open the door. "How do you
know our time is up? I don't see a watch or clock any where."
A uneasy feeling sank in her heart as she watched her teammate throw
his weight against the door in hopes of opening it. "Did you
unlock it?" She wondered as she stood up. "I didn't lock it in the first place." He
stood back and shone the flashlight over the door. There were no latches
on the inside, meaning it had to be locked on the outside. "Then who did?" As if to answer, the room erupted into a chaos of voices, screams, and laughter. "What's going on?!" Mina screamed as she fell to her knees holding both her ears to block out the sudden noise. "Trowa?!" She looked at the door. He was gone.
He left her? But how did he get out? "Trowa!" She looked
about the room. There wasn't anyone else in the room, so where was
all the voices coming from. She felt something touch her shoulder.
Involuntary, she slapped the object. It took her a moment to realize
that it was Trowa. "I'm sorry." She said quickly and threw
herself into his arms. "Mina, what's wrong?" Trowa asked concernly
and wrapped his arms around the figure. As if his voice was a savior,
the room fell silent. Mina looked up at the Latin. "Didn't you hear them?" "Who?" "The voices?" Trowa's forehead crinkled in
confusion. "You didn't hear them? They were laughing, and screaming,
and. . .and. . .and they were so loud. You didn't hear them?"
Trowa shook his head. She looked back at the door. "Is the door
open?" "No." "Then we're stuck here?" Trowa nodded. "I
want out!" She screamed and jumped to her feet. She ran to the
door and began kicking, ramming, everything she could to open it,
but it wouldn't budge. "Mina." Trowa started softly and pulled her
lightly from the exit. "It's no use. We're just going to have
to wait." "Wait? Wait for what? I don't want to wait! I want to leave right now!" ******** Wu Fei looked up as the door opened. Quatre, Rei, Serena
and Heero entered. Relena jumped from her seat and ran over to the
new arrivals. It was the first time she left the repairs of the equipment.
She flung her arms around Heero's neck. "I'm so glad everyone is all right." She gasped
and held him tightly. "What happened to the speakers?" Heero wondered
aloud and tried to push her from him unsuccessfully. "Seems your radios stopped working." Seiya
turned in time to catch a scared Serena in his arms. "Ours is working fine." Quatre handed his
headset to Sally for her agreement. "Yours are the ones not working." Heero glared
as Relena released him. "There hasn't been any problems here Heero. We
were able to hear you guys the whole time. For some reason, you weren't
hearing us." Sally explained as she inspected the wires of the
speaker. "But your sets are working properly." "Neither Duo or I had problems with our equipment."
Ami inputted. "Where's Duo?" Heero wondered noticing that
the braided pilot wasn't there. "And Lita?" Serena worried for her friend.
"Duo had to go to the hospital. Hilde went with
him. As for Lita, she's resting in the next room." Wu Fei explained
and pointed in the direction of the room he was talking of. Without
another word, Serena and Rei ran into the appointed room to check
on their friend. "So, where's Trowa and Mina?" Quatre feared
as he realized that they were still missing. "We're working on that." Relena answered and
returned to the equipment. "We lost both cameras and speakers."
"How long ago?" Heero walked over to her and
looked over her shoulder. "About an hour and a half ago." Catherine
explained. "I hope everything's okay." "I hope Mina and Trowa are okay." Quatre commented
and slumped into the nearest chair. "As long as they're together, I don't think there'll
be a problem." Sally calmed and turned her attention to Heero's
head set. "We sent Taiki and Yaten to go and find them."
Catherine grieved and turned her attention back to the monitor. Hopefully
Trowa or Mina's equipment would suddenly start working again. "Do you know where they are?" Quatre asked
as he looked up at the worried sister. "Yeah, they should be on the first floor in room
103. Their last dare was to spend two hours in that room alone."
"Umm, Sally, if you were able to hear everything.
. ." Quatre started. "Does that mean you heard the banging
and talking?" Sally looked at the Arab a moment. "I didn't hear any banging, and the only talking
came from you guys. Why?" Sally asked and studied the pale pilot.
"That place is haunted." Rei answered from
the next room. "Genuinely haunted." "You must be kidding." Dorothy snickered and
turned to face the blonde pilot. "You can't possibly believe
in ghosts at your age." "She's telling the truth Dorothy. I was there.
I saw the ghost and heard the pounding. It was as if the patients'
spirits were trying to escape." "Quatre, I'm surprised by you." Dorothy scorned.
"Surely a solider can't believe in such childish antics."
"He's right." Wu Fei interrupted. "That
Blanche woman possessed Lita, that's why she attacked me." All
eyes turned to the Chinese pilot. Since he had returned, he didn't
tell anyone what had truly happened. It was then that the bruises
on Wu Fei's neck was noticed. "If Barton and that other girl
is still in there. . ." "We have to get them out." Quatre pleaded.
"What the Hell?!" All attention turned to
a monitor positioned in front of Catherine. Yaten could be seen. "What's wrong Yaten?" Catherine wondered and
slid to the edge of her seat. "They're not here." He breathed out of amazement.
"Are you at room 103?" "Yes, and they're not here. . .Taiki, check the next room. Maybe they went in the wrong one." ********** The silence returned, and for once, Mina was glad to
hear it. She felt like she wanted to cry. No matter how hard she tried,
she couldn't stop thinking about the voices she heard. Every time
she actually started thinking about something, she would remember
how loud they were. . . .how depressing they were. The voices had
to belong to the patients that lived here at one time. They had screamed
for mercy, and freedom. Trowa swore that he didn't hear them, any
of them, but there was so many that Mina couldn't understand how he
couldn't have heard them unless he was deaf. "Mina, are you okay?" Trowa asked to break
the silence. He didn't really feel like talking, but he felt that
the silence was only bothering the blonde. "I don't know why I was the only one to hear the
voices." "You wanted to talk before, let's do it now."
Mina looked up at him. "I don't know what to say." "We can make small talk." "I don't feel like talking about the weather right
now Trowa." "It doesn't have to be that." He said softly.
"Then what?" ". . . .How's school?" Mina continued to stare
at him. He was definitely strange. When she wanted him to talk, he
stayed silent. When she finally got him to talk, he made out with
her to keep her quiet. Now she didn't want to talk, and he wanted
to chit chat about school. She couldn't help but laugh. Trowa continued
to look at her strangely. He couldn't understand her either. The entire
time she wouldn't shut up. Now she seemed to be pretending to be him.
So they talked, mostly Mina spoke, but Trowa added enough to keep
the conversation going. They talked about anything that came to mind,
except the voices that she heard. It seemed like a lifetime passed,
and in truth, Mina was getting sleepy. She tried to hide it, but Trowa
was able to see right through it. It seemed that as long as they talked,
nothing happened. "Are you getting tired?" Trowa asked,
noting that Mina was trying to hide her yawn behind her hand. "No. I don't think I could ever fall asleep in
a place like this." "It's getting late." "How can you tell the time." "I have a strong sense of it." He watched
as she started to rub her sleep dreary eyes. "If you want, you
can lay on me." Mina's blue eyes widen in surprise at the offer.
Without waiting for her to accept, he slipped one arm around her and
pulled her closer to him. All the equipment was removed and placed
on the floor next to them. She was comfortably positioned with her
head resting on his left leg. "What about you?" Mina asked stifling another
yawn. "I'm fine." Trowa answered and began to gently
rub her back in soothing circles. "Trowa, do you think the voices will come back?"
Mina finally gave voice to her fear and hugged her knee pillow closely.
"Try not to think about it." "You do believe me, don't you?" "I do." Under the tender rubbing and soft
voice, Mina was quickly falling asleep. "Trowa. . ." ". . .hn?. . ." "Are you scared to be in here?" "Not so long as I'm with you." Mina tried
to look up at him. She wanted to know the true meaning behind that,
but he laid her head back down and stroked her long blonde hair. "Rest
now Mina." He soothed and she closed her blue eyes. Trowa did
believe her about the voices. He believed that the entire place was
haunted. For as Mina was slowly falling into slumber, a woman was
sitting in the corner opposite them. Her long brown hair was unkempt.
She had her knees, which she was hugging tightly, brought up to her
chest. Her deep green eyes were staring at them as if she was a lion
ready to pounce on a couple of wildebeests. She had been sitting there,
rocking herself lightly, ever since the beginning of the conversation.
Mina didn't seem to have noticed or seen her, but Trowa did. And as
he was leisurely coasting his blonde partner to sleep, he stared down
the deep green eyes watching them.
